Water Well Drilling Company Serving Yelm, WA

Advanced Drilling drills residential and commercial wells using rotary water well drilling. Our team is skilled and we use equipment that lets us provide the best possible water well drilling service to our customers in Yelm.

How Does Rotary Drilling Work?

Rotary drilling allows modern wells to step beyond how they were traditionally used in the past. We attach a durable metal drill bit to a drill pipe that spins and grinds up rock on its way into the ground. As the drill rotates, cuttings (broken pieces of rock) get flushed up and out of the hole. This is done through the use of drilling fluid (also called drilling mud), which floats the cuttings to the surface. The drill bit is also lubricated and cooled when it comes into contact with the drilling fluid. It helps to stabilize the sides of the well before it’s cased or a screen is installed into the water well.

Water flows into the hole when the drill hits rock formations that hold water. While your well is being drilled, we monitor how deep the water strikes are and what sort of rock formations contain them. Wells are typically lined using a well casing.

The space between the drilled hole and the well casing (named the annulus) must be protected from pollution by filling it with grout. This ensures that surface water doesn’t flow down the outside of the well casing and taint the aquifer. We do this in order to maintain your family’s health.

Why We Use Johnson Screens

Johnson Screens give your water well the following advantages:

  • Avoid harm to your pump
  • Improve your well’s efficiency
  • Improve pumping efficiency
  • Maximize water flow rate into the well
  • Reduce well maintenance
  • Increase well’s lifespan

How to Prepare Your Site for Water Well Drilling

  • Mark the site with a stake saying “WELL”
  • There should be 15 feet of clearance with no tree limbs or hanging wires
  • About 15 feet wide to have enough room for the drill rig
